Russian and South Slavic film theory, national cinemas and film institutions; experimental film from Eastern Europe;  cinematic authenticity and reality effects; the imaginary conceptualization of technology; East European art and culture after communism; the articulation of nationalism in literature and films; the influence of discourse on the production and reception of art.
